WELCOME - About Safetnett
In the year 2000 an idea came into light: what would it be like to know you have saved a life? Wally Cjepa saw a need for something that would stop his workers getting hurt whilst at work.
At this stage Wally had 40 to 60 plasterers employed and found that his employees were unnecessarily becoming hurt when they fell from heights such as stair voids. During a discussion with some of his employees the notion of using nets under the workers was suggested and that was the beginning of it all. After about 6 months the first prototype was constructed and the look for patents had begun. Late 2001 was when the first net went out for hire with Noordeen Constructions.
Early 2002 Wally received a phone call that would inspire him to continue with this enterprise. He had been notified that his net had just prevented the serious injury or death of a carpenter who had lost his balance and fell off the roof landing in the net. One of the carpenters told an installer of the net that he had simply gotten back up going straight back to work like nothing had happened.
Then in mid 2002 Wally received another phone call that a plasterer has lost his balance while placing planks across a stair void and was caught by the net. There was a proposal to have this scenario aired on the news however due to the discretion of the plasterer this did not occur as the plasterer did not want to be viewed as incompetent. Despite the struggle to get the product off the ground Safe.T.Nett currently has nets installed in sewer pits, Qantas maintenance pits, Maxitrans Truck body manufacturers, Alcoa Aluminium roofing, domestic and commercial stair voids, mechanical pits, upright barriers and many others.
Safe.T.Nett is currently supplying nets to Victoria University and Holmesglen Institute of Tafe for the future training of our young trades. This is done at no cost to the schools.
Safe.T.Nett has now opened up it's overseas market and is looking for interest in New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom, United States Of America. Hong Kong and Australia is on the market as well.
